Are you an experienced Lead Engineer Piping PD with extensive experience? We have an interesting opportunity for you. The Piping & Plant Design department is involved in the engineering of
(multidisciplinary) projects in the petrochemical, paper, process, water and food industries; from preliminary study to turnkey realization. This department is part of the Industrial Projects application area and carries out work in the office and at the customer’s location.
Your Responsibilities:
As a Senior Lead Piping Engineer PD in the Plant Design department, you work with a high degree of independence. In addition, you lead a project team of engineers, designers and draftsmen. The Senior Lead Engineer reports to and receives instructions from the Project Manager and/or the Head of Department. As a Senior Lead Engineer, you possess mechanical engineering professional qualities in combination with project leader competencies and a strong personality. The Senior Lead Engineer will, in multidisciplinary projects, consult with other professional disciplines within the organization.
Tasks:
• Has a leading role in the technical implementation of projects and thus masters all stages within a technical project;
• Maintains a (multidisciplinary) technical overview in a project from concept to detailed engineering and possible realization;
• Designing, specifying, analysing and assessing complicated installations or parts thereof in concept, basic and detail phases;
• Delivers projects on time and correctly in which quality, condition and budget are achieved according to plan;
• Making budgets and preparing offers with regard to assignments and/or design changes;
• Consults and reports to the Project Manager (PM) and/or the Leader of the Group (GL) with regard to planning, progress and assignment/ design changes;
• Ensures a good written report;
• Maintaining contact with customers and suppliers;
• Supervising, training and advising a team of designers and engineers;
• Making proposals to improve the working atmosphere and motivation of the group members;
• Very active role in the further development and improvement of quality in the department
• Setting an example as a senior over the department and the project team.
Responsibilities:
• Is ultimately responsible for the functional part of the project;
• Is responsible for the organisational and technical execution of the work assigned to him within the set time and budget;
• Is responsible for the quality of the work delivered, including control registrations and design verifications;
• Is responsible for the output and productivity of his/her project team.
• Monitoring the piping project scope and detecting/escalating additional work towards the Project Manager and/or Group Leader
• Clear and orderly recording of actions/decisions (both within the team and with the customer) and monitoring this within the piping team.
Competences:
• Corrective action with regard to the supervision of project team members, the progress and cost monitoring and quality of a project and the associated documents.
• Approving and signing documents/drawings of the entire piping team, after checking for correctness and completeness.
Who We’re Looking For: (Job requirements)
• From experience, you are able to identify any design requirements and trigger the engineer to verify certain things (are additional calculations required?)
• A technical education at bachelor’s degree / master’s degree
• Extensive mechanical engineering experience (5 years) in the process industry and/or >3 years of experience as a LE and/or >6 years of experience as a Senior Piping Engineer
• You are able to perform technical calculations regarding the process design; Approving and signing documents/drawings of the entire piping team, after checking for correctness and completeness
• You can specify fittings and equipment parts for the purpose of process design;
• You can translate the process design into a 2D/3D layout and/or detailed drawings;
• You can determine the necessary documents and activities for the project goal;
• Has knowledge of budgeting techniques, cost control, planning and progress techniques;
• Has knowledge of factory organizations, safety and government regulations and permits;
• Has basic knowledge of project management aspects;
• You can work both independently and in a team with other disciplines;
• Experience working in multidisciplinary projects, where you know what input is required from you by, and what input you need from, the various disciplines;
• Has demonstrable leadership experience; and you know how to radiate peace and s eniority towards the group
• Knowledge of 2D/3D CAD packages and/or software programs in his/her field;
• The ability to solve issues quickly and creatively;
• You are used to communicating effectively at all levels in the (customer) organization;
• You master software packages in the field of word processing, spreadsheets and planning;
• Good command of the Dutch and English language in word and writing;
• Proficiency in the German language is an advantage;
• Possesses excellent communication skills.
• You are independently able to track the progress and quality of your own work and of the engineers, designer(s) and draftsman(s) you manage at document/activity level;
• You are able to manage, instruct and help develop (a team of) engineers, designers and draftsman(s) in an enthusiastic and constructive way;
• You have an exemplary role in improving the processes and quality within the department and actively contribute to the roll-out and compliance with this;
• You have in-depth experience in working in accordance with (customer/European/American) standards, norms, design codes and guidelines regarding piping (for equipment this is an advantage) and are able to challenge customers on this subject;
You are able to act in a de-escalating manner within the project team, as well as (where necessary) escalating towards the Project Manager and/or Group Leader.
